Digital Journalist

Description:New Hampshire Public Radio, an award-winning statewide news and information service, is seeking a digitally savvy, experienced journalist to collaborate with the news, programming and digital teams to create outstanding audience-directed content, including interactive web features, social media elements and multi-media features.

NHPR delivers news, information, analysis, arts and entertainment programming to 165,000 weekly listeners across the state and region. New Hampshire Public Radio’s mission is to help create a more informed public, one challenged and enriched by a deeper understanding and appreciation of state, national and worldwide events, ideas and culture.
Duties:• Develop and produce unique web-only content.
• Develop in-depth reports on complex issues, policies and trends.
• Engage diverse target audiences by connecting digitally on topics of interest via blogs, Twitter and other outlets.
• Provide research and fact checking for programming and news to strengthen our reporting and help integrate data into projects; compile documentation to facilitate fact checking.
• Periodically appear as a guest on programs including Friday New Hampshire News Round-up and All Things Considered, and on Morning Edition for two-ways.
• Participate in breaking news coverage as required.
• Advise radio journalists on how to write for the web.
Qualifications:• Minimum of five years of experience in journalism.
• Outstanding research, writing, reporting and editing skills.
• Demonstrated judgment in recognizing the relative importance of news stories and in developing stories appropriately.
• Demonstrated ability to develop, research and report investigative projects and stories.
• Experience engaging diverse audiences through digital means including social media.
• Knowledge of SEO best practices.
• Ability to effectively collaborate with other reporters and program staff.
• Strong analytical skills; ability to aggregate data and recognize and understand trends.
• Technologically versatile with willingness to expand skills. Experience in producing or editing digital media is desirable (video, interactive media, photo editing, etc. .
• Knowledge of relevant FCC rules and regulations.
• Commitment to the NHPR News Code of Ethics and Practices.
